Hey everyone!
This week was just flat out interesting. We met people with all sorts of testimonies. I've been thinking a lot about what a testimony is and who truly has one. I think before the mission I had a testimony but it was never truly tested. I guess the mission helps you to gain a truly tested testimony. I hope that makes a little bit of sense... That's been on my mind a lot! Anyways... Here we go.
Tuesday
President Johnson came up for interviews which was awesome! I always love those. He always has great counsel and advice for us. After that I went on an exchange with Elder Hyer! He is going home in the next few weeks so it was cool to kind of talk to him about all of his mission experiences. We have served in the same zone together for my whole mission so it's weird to see him go! We had an old lady tell us she doesn't think she can do the Mormon thing which was sad... she won't accept the Book of Mormon which is a big mistake on her part. That night we played some ball in an alley which was sweet. I had Nareeke on my team so you already know who won. Just kidding he is 10 but has a good jumper so we'll see if we can teach him some other stuff real soon.
Wednesday
This was just a weird day. As a missionary you really get to talk to all sorts of people and see the whole spectrum. We surely did today. We started off with a lady who has been sealed in the temple but now doesn't believe in God or really anything. She told us she believes in a interconnected world like you see in the movie Avatar. Interesting. We saw some really solid less active people who have testimonies but are struggling to get to church! Seems to be a big problem out here and everywhere... Then we ended the night basically in an argument with this lady. Oh boy. It's a long story but basically she told us that the Book of Mormon conflicts the Bible. She had a lot of strange questions and it was just a really weird night... She conflicted herself a lot and I was just trying to follow along... Jesus said love everyone right?
Thursday
Saw some less actives that really want to come back to church which is great! One of them had some really good questions for us and we were able to answer them all! She has such a pure testimony but has been through a hard time! We hope to see her at church!
Friday
Saw my main Andy in the morning. It's always fun to be with him. Really sincere guy and always cracks me up! He honestly just wants to do his best with whatever it is and he is finally finding a home for a lot of things he believes! Quote of the day goes to him. He said: "Hand shakes are for businessmen, hugs are for the Lord." Hah we always get a hug from him before we leave which is a little different but hey man, hugs are for the Lord. We were also signed up to clean the church which is something I haven't done in awhile! Good times. We had dinner with the Joncas family which was fantastic. Also it's a small Mormon world after all because their son's companion is none other than Connor Oniki. So if you know Sneaky you'll love the attached pictures.
Saturday
We did a lot of service which was good! We had a less active that needed help so we went and he handed us some rakes. He just watched us rake his leaves which I thought was super weird... The guy is like 30 years old and totally able to do it himself. I kinda wanted to ask him if he was getting thirsty watching us work but I decided against it... I guess it's all apart of loving service. We later went and helped Ana out who is a good friend of a family in the Ward! She actually helped us scrape paint with her son which was solid. They're great people! Also we finally had a Spanish lesson!! Pretty huge considering I'm in an English area right now! So sweet! It was with the Peña family we found last week and they continue to have good questions and real intent! I'm pumped for them. Quote of the day comes from the Youmans family dinner. *In the closing prayer* "Please bless us that we won't go to the baptist church tomorrow." Hah pretty great coming from the mouth of an 11 year old whose dad likes to mess with us about going to the other church.
Sunday
Church was good as always! After church we hunted down some people we've been needing to see and we actually talked to them! One was this big less active family with kids who need to be baptized! The 13 year-old girl told us she wants to be baptized so looks like we'll be focusing there!!
There you have it! Another week down and it gets better and better as we go! I learned this week that Pennsylvania has the least amount of members per capita in the USA. Someone should correct me if that's wrong. Looks like we have a lot of work to do.
Happy Mother's Day to all those mothers out there! Hope you have an awesome Sunday!
Much love.
I done seen rain in PA,
