Hey everyone!
This week was crazy and it seemed to be super long! We are working hard and trying our best!
Tuesday
We started off this week super strong! The Towanda Elders came down for a blitz so we saw a lot more people! If you remember from a few weeks ago, we were teaching a guy named Jackie. Jackie had decided to join with the JW after investigating our church for several years... We respected that choice and kind of moved on. Turns out Bishop Hill didn't. Hah Bishop Hill is the man. He's a convert and grew up baptist so he's the perfect team up! He THREW down. He asked Jackie if he felt like he had really prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was the word of God and he confessed that he hadn't... Uh-oh. So we recommitted him for the nth time and we will see what happens! I also had an 8 year old ask me where God came from... Straight for the throat.
Wednesday
We had zone training and President and Sister Johnson came up for it! They normally don't come for the trainings so it was sweet! We talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and its importance. Truthfully that book is the keystone. Everything stands or falls upon whether or not it is the word of God! We're here to testify that it is of God! After the training we went up to see Nadia. She's still trying to figure out if she wants to be baptized or not. She's pretty sassy for a 10 year old so teaching her isn't always the easiest... We talked about the Holy Ghost and how important He is. She seemed to like that and the idea of a constant friend to help her so we will keep rolling. In other news, I went on splits with Hermano Fuentes de Chile! He's pretty awesome and it was nice to actually speak some Spanish for 3 hours straight. Wish I could do that more.
Thursday
Members make the difference in missionary work. We're teaching a lady named Mary right now and she's going through quite the struggle. One of the Ward missionaries here is named Lenny Wright and he is THE man. He was reactivated a little while back and just has a solid testimony. He came out with us last night and invited Mary to church with him. He lives about 10 mins from the church but he instead will drive about an hour total to pick her up and head right back to church. I wish I was more like Lenny. He's got a heart of gold. I also saw how important it is that everyone hear the gospel in their native tongue. Hermano Fuentes has been really stressed and not feeling too well so he asked for a blessing. We usually speak English at his house because my comp doesn't speak Spanish! Hmo. Fuentes and I will usually throw phrases around but nothing too crazy. Well I gave him the blessing and started in English... It was not supposed to be in English. No words would come to my head! Only Spanish words. Ahhh! I'm still kicking myself for not having the faith to do it. Gotta live and learn.
Friday
We mowed the lawn for this older couple that can't do it themselves which was awesome. It's been awhile since I've mowed and I really liked doing it. Brought back some good memories of my little lawn mowing business I had going! We went on a team up with Patriarch Knoebel and that was pretty sweet. We asked him some good questions as we went up to see Jim up in the hills. Jim has decided to come back to church after 16 years! He said he won't tell us the day but it is very soon... He's a man of his word so we're pumped for that day!
Saturday
Went to a baptism in our zone and I got called on to play piano. Prepare yourselves kids. Hah I've become pretty decent at playing "Redeemer of Israel." We did some service which involved burning leaves. Easy enough. We also saw a family that has really lost their way so don't forget to hold fast to that iron rod.
Sunday
None of our investigators came to church which was a bummer... No one comes to church. It's such a hard problem for us and I'm sure we're not the only ones.... I guess it's kind of hard when you live 23 miles from the church or more. I guess all we can do is keep working on it. We met with the Lakes which is an awesome part member family. He kind of just invited them to check themselves and it was awesome! We were super bold and loving and it just worked really well. I think they will make some changes!
We had an awesome P day today hiking around these waterfalls! My favorite type of hike! I hope all is well back home and know that I am as solid as ever.
It's a great day to be alive.
Seguimos adelante,
Elder Halls
