Week 27 Six months, Five Guys and 78 Hymn Books

Happy Leap Day to you and yours!

This week was weird because I hit 6 months. Definitely burned a tie with some of my favorite rednecks so cha-hooooooo!! Hopefully momma bear puts some pictures in this email because it was pretty sweet. Other than that life keeps chugging.

Tuesday
One of those days where everyone decides to bail on you and no one wants to talk to you. Those ones are a test of my patience for sure!! I was in a bit of a bad mood, but the day turned around a little towards the end. Haha my highlight of the day was in Dunkirk! We were trying the house of a potential investigator when his wife answered the door. She told us he was busy, but his little kid said otherwise... Haha he shouts out: "He's not busy, he's just not interested!!"  Hah I then told his wife something along the lines of look if he's really not interested just tell us!! Hah some people are so scared to tell us they're not interested and I don't get it! Hah I guess they think we're gonna cry or something! Who knows... In other interesting news, I got a solid bro hug from a Puerto Rican. Maybe they are starting to accept me. I guess you gotta start somewhere.
Side note: Pretty sure I witnessed a drug bust tonight. 3 cop cars at one house with many a people in hand cuffs. Oh Dunkirk.
Wednesday
A couple more people decided to cancel on us but we still had a good day!! We do service at this library in Westfield and someone asked us a really funny question. She asked us if the Mormon church believes in stealing books from libraries that we don't agree with. Haha that one was a first.  We also had a really good lesson with the Nickersons again! Haha it was a little crazy, but they're a young family so that's just kind of how it is!!
Thursday
We were in Jamestown for district meeting which was good! Being in a bachelor district is interesting, but we usually have good discussions! Hah also there was a slight miracle. Five Guys in Jamestown, NY feeds missionaries for FREE. BLESS THAT OWNER. Hah we walk in and one of the cooks yells out: "Yo these guys eat for free!!" Haha it was nice to feel special.  After a couple lessons we went to the Pisters and started our hymn book repair operation. Basically all the hymn books in Jamestown have been destroyed by niñitos, so it was about time they got fixed. Bishop asked Bro. Pister to fix them and then we were corralled into it as well. It was pretty sweet actually and by the end of the night we fixed up 78 hymn books!! Hah all I can say is that I better hear some dang good singing next time we're in Jamestown.
Friday
We found some new service in Dunkirk and it's awesome.  We now work at the cocina de amistad as it's called. It's awesome!! The three people we work with in the kitchen don't speak hardly any English and they're from.... You guessed it, Puerto Rico. Haha it just keeps getting better! This place is basically just a little kitchen where people can come get some food if they are in need! Lots of Latinos and people that are just kind of having a hard time. It was fun! We talked to a lot of people and the main chef was tight! His name is Gerardo and he gave us his address and told us to pass by tomorrow! I think we can do that.
Saturday
We did awesome service for the Sharons! Hah we took apart this super old piano and helped clean up a bunch of stuff for their baby on the way! We also had an awesome lesson with our main man Gerardo!! Haha he's sweet!! We sit down and start talking about church and what not and he says something like: "There's so many churches, how can I know which one is the one God wants for me?"  Gold. We flipped out a Book of Mormon and a restoration pamphlet and he loved it!! Haha I don't wanna say any more but keep this man in your prayers because he needs this!!
Sunday
Church in Jamestown for Ward conference! We will be there the next two weeks as well which is really weird! Lots of good messages today and it's always good to be with the whole Ward. After that we had a good lesson with a less active that wants to come back to church with her whole family! We hope that it all works out! Also dinner with the Przybysz crew which is ALWAYS a good time. Other than that a pretty chill Sunday!

Wellllll yeah. Good enough! That was the week! If you have any questions feel free to email me because I want to hear from you. For real. Even if you don't have questions, I still want to hear from you.

Keep making good choices.

Peace and blessings,

Elder Halls
