Week 25 PPM tragedy and the eternal cold

Tuesday
I spent the day in Warren with Elder Boyes as both of our companions were being transferred! We had a good day and we walked a ton! Our companions got back to Warren at 5:30 or so and Elder Andrade and I headed on back to Fredonia! We had a nice Taco Tuesday with the Yarber family and then headed back to the apartment where we received some terrible news. I'm sure many of you know by now, but 4 sisters in our mission were in an awful car accident. Sister Wells passed away and the other 3 sisters are in the hospital. It shook up all the missionaries as we know it could've been any of us. I hope you will put these amazing sisters in your prayers this week. They are all amazing missionaries and we're all saddened to hear such a tragic thing happen.
Wednesday
Had a busy day in Westfield and highlight of the day was with the Nickerson family! Another member in the ward had A TON of extra food and they asked us if we knew anyone that could use it! We said yes and showed up with two boxes full of meat and all sorts of canned foods! That was a tender mercy for them and way cool to see how happy they were! We ended up having a really good and fun lesson with paper hearts! We've been trying to start family night with them and it's making a huge difference!! They've been so fun to teach and I love being over there!
Thursday
Had district meeting in Jamestown and then we went and taught the Pavlock family out in Sinclairville! Papa Pavlock is a member and offered us some beer so that was interesting.  We ended up having a really good lesson and testifying of the Book of Mormon! We also met with Sally the "Mor-Wit". She ordered us pizza again which was pretty dang awesome.  She likes to feed her "boys."  We talked to her about the plan of salvation which was good because she needs a lot of help on why she's here and her purpose! We also got fed at Bob Evans with the  Rosinski family! Super awesome couple that feed us a lot!
Friday
Had weekly planning and shoveled lots of snow. It was really cold.
Saturday
I thought Friday was cold. We woke up to -17 with the windchill. That's just ridiculous. But we're missionaries so what do we do? Work. Hah we had an appointment with a member referral out in Sinclairville which was good!! Super nice guy and we gave him a Book of Mormon to read! He seemed pretty interested but he goes out of town this week so we will see.... After that we just tried sooooo many people with no luck. To be honest I don't blame them. I'm not answering my door either when it's 3 degrees and feels like -17!! Haha so moral of this story is I wish I was in Tonga. Just kidding. Hah I was walking around and just thinking to myself why am I here freezing?? What do I need to be taught!? It kinda just hit me that I need to learn more patience! I am not the most patient person I know so I have learned a great lesson here. You kinda have to be patient when you can't change the weather! I feel like the Lord likes to test our determination as well. He knows that Elder Halls likes 80 degree weather with a golf club in his hand so why send him somewhere where that's gonna be comfortable? It was one of those cool days where you realize that you're called to a place for a reason!!
Sunday
Church back in Fredonia this week which was good! It was -11 when church started (with windchill) so I was thinking we would have 15 show up if we were lucky! Well I was wrong and 20 showed up!! Haha yessssss. The Nickersons came and Faye will be speaking in church next week!! Hah she went right up to our group leader and said: "Uh Brother Snyder I wanna speak in church next week."  Booooom. Faye is awesome and I love seeing her little testimony grow!! After that we had some lessons with a couple of less actives that are just kind of frustrating. They have a hard time putting it all together. They know the Book of Mormon is true but they have no desire to do anything about it.... You can only invite so much.

Well kind of a crazy week with transfers and Sister Wells passing away. I hope you will keep her family and the other sisters in your thoughts and prayers. We will be having a memorial service for her on Wednesday in Cranberry, PA. It will be great to remember her life and celebrate all the good she did here in the PPM.

Keep making good choices.

PPM strong,
