Hey fam,
This week has been super busy which is the best. Spare time drives me crazy so it's good to be always on the go. Didn't write as much as I should have but hopefully you forgive...
Tuesday
Busy day. This week is just set up to be busy. We had a bunch of appointments all over the place and we're still trying to help Sally. She has a big problem with the fact that man can see God. So we get to her place and she's gearing up to bash. Ohhhh boy. Haha she has us read in John where it says man cannot see God and then I had her flip to Genesis where it says man can and that seemed to solve the problem. The bible can be confusing so it's great to have the Book of Mormon with it!! Elder Andrade also gave a haircut at a dinner appointment so that was pretty funny. Kyle needed it. Video to come.
Wednesday
Zone conference in Cranberry! Looooong day! We woke up at 5 and got back home at 9 that night! The conference was great! They gave us a lot of really good training and gave us a really firm commitment! It was motivating and I felt like it was what the mission needed! 315 miles later we got home and we were exhausted. Mission life.
Thursday
Busy day out in Westfield. Kind of a weird day to be honest! We walked into a couple weird situations! Hah we walked into a Mom railing on her kid about doing his homework so that was interesting. We ended up teaching about the importance of learning and everything so that was good! I also had some really good Puerto Rican food. Arroz con habichuela!! I'm starting to eat that a lot lately and I like it! It's basically just rice and beans with chicken and potato sometimes! I approve.
Friday
Woke up with a nasty head cold so that was fun. Buuuuut we had too much planned to just be sick so we kept going! We did our service at the friendly kitchen which is always good! Gerardo loves us. He calls us his Papitos. I think he gave me four hugs. He likes to tell all the Puerto Ricans that I speak Spanish. Let's be clear that I speak some Spanish, not Puerto Rican. It's a process. Also I was in one of those moods (because I'm sick) where the first thing that came to my head came out. Watch out. Luckily we had a lot of weekly planning to do and I have learned to be a nicer person. Missions are great.
Saturday
Great day. Bishop Waddell from the Presiding Bishopric came and he is amazing!! I took so many notes of things he said and it was sweet! He spent a couple hours with just us missionaries which was amazing! Again, very inspired guy. We were there all day for the priesthood leadership meeting and then the adult session of stake conference! Really uplifting and he said a ton of stuff that this Ward and stake needs! I think everyone that went has a list of things they can do to improve!! It was a long day but really worth it!
Sunday
Stake conference! Really great session with a lot of good things learned! Ammon who we have been working with was ordained an Elder and we were invited to be in the circle for that! Cool thing for him and his family as well as us!! After that we had an awesome lesson with one of the ladies from the friendly kitchen! She started off by thinking we were a cult so that was interesting. We explained that we don't worship the prophet or anything like that and we ended up having a really good discussion! We hope for the best for her!!
Soooo yeah! That's what went down! Alssooooo the church now has a new Easter video! It's called Hallelujah! We will be spreading the word on the daily and you can too!! Use the #Hallelujah and share what you know about the Savior at this special time of the year! Since most of you are probably reading this from your phone right now, do yourself a favor and watch the video! You won't regret it. Share it on social media and let it touch lives!!
That's my commitment to you today. Háganlo.
Much love from Fredonia,
Elder Halls
