Hola,
Dorothy said some magical words this week. She has two daughters that are members of the church and we invited her to call them and tell them she's getting baptized. She did it and told them she's now a member of the Mormon church. (She's getting close) 👍🏽 Their response? "Well, now we have more to talk about!" Hah it was something little, but huge for her. Dorothy already sees herself as a member and she's only been to church once. We'll take it. We taught her the law of tithing on Tuesday and she loved it. She already believed it so it was definitely preaching to the choir. We saw Jorge on Tuesday night as well and he just asked us to be patient with him. It's going to be hard for me but I need to do it!
Thursday started off with a solid district meeting on the importance of the Book of Mormon. It was a great reminder and I could definitely do better at using the Book of Mormon in our teaching. I feel like the constant struggle of missionary life is trying to do all the things you're supposed to do at the same time. Inevitably something gets forgotten and I think that's what keeps it interesting. You never really have the "perfect" lesson where everything goes exactly by the book. You can always do something better! Later that day we saw Don, and man that guy is prepared. He's a fun guy to teach and we just read a few verses with him in the Book of Mormon to get him started. He said he was "sold" and loved it. I'm excited for him and his family!
We've been giving a fair amount of blessings this week which has been exciting. The power of God is definitely there as his authority is used and it's always a testimony builder to me. One of them was right after dinner with the Cárdenas. Apparently her sister has been having a lot of trouble with her eyes and it's been hard for her to work. Sister Cárdenas is always trying to introduce her family to us and the church so this was a good opportunity. The biggest thing that stood out to me in the blessing was just the fact that God knows his children and loves them. I think that's one of the most amazing things.
Sunday was fantastic. Don and his wife came to church and stayed for all 3 hours! I think they had a good experience and enjoyed it! Elder Nelson and I went upstairs with the English ward and man that place is a zoo. Soooo many little kids and I'm amazed Don and Terry got anything out of the meeting. 😬 After church we went out to teach what we thought were some set appointments but they fell through because of work and one of our referrals was drunk... He was really nice and offered us cerveza twice though. 😂 He told us the priest told him it was okay and so he kept offering. Looks like we'll have to go back and figure some things out.
Another week comes and goes! Dorothy didn't make it to church this week so we're going to have to reevaluate for her baptism. That woman is getting in the water soon though, I know it. Other than that life goes on! Hope you're doing well wherever you are.
Random Thoughts
- I decided that Bro. Stoddard who always teams up with us is just like my Grandpa Kimball. We had dinner at their house this week and it felt just like a family home evening with the grandparents. The Stoddards help us a ton!
