Hola family and friends!!
It´s always good to get on the computer and see emails from such great friends and family so thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers!!
This week has been great! Filled with lots of learning and great spiritual experiences! I´ve started to write down in my journal the things I want to talk about so sorry if it seems out of order! hah here we gooooo
The language is the weirdest thing. Sometimes I feel like I finally understand it, and then the next day I struggle to say you´re welcome. That´s a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point! I keep working as hard as I can and pray that I will get better! I see the gift of tongues here in myself and with my district. Sometimes my comp says stuff and It just amazes me that he thought of that. The spirit is strong here in the CCM!
So on Saturday we were able to watch the cultural celebration of the Mexico temple! It was all in Spanish, but I was able to get the main message of it which was awesome! You could tell that they put a lot of time into it, and the Latinos here were so happy to celebrate!! The temple has been closed for 2 years so it´s amazing to see it finally reopened! On Sunday we also watched the dedication. Pres. Eyring and Elder Holland came down to dedicate it and it was amazing. There was a great spirit and it was fun to do the Hosanna shout in Spanish! Again, the Latinos were so happy. There was not a dry eye in the whole row of Latinos in front of us! It testified to me the importance of Temples and the blessings we can receive there!
So Independence day here in Mexico was on Tuesday. HOLY COW. In my 3 weeks here in Mexico I´ve learned a few things. One is that Mexicans do not know how to properly make dessert. They have the right intentions, but then they have to throw some weird spice in it. No bueno. The second thing is they have no idea how to drive. It is utter chaos in the roads here. BUT, they absolutely KNOW how to have a PARTY. My word. Tuesday night we were not allowed to leave our houses after 9:30 because of the celebration. We heard music, fireworks, probably gun shots, and all other kinds of fiesta until probably 2 in the morning. It was fun to be here for it all and to see the pride they take in their country. They sang their national anthem in the comedor and it was cool to see!
Today we had the opportunity to go see the TEMPLE!! It was great! Sadly, there are too many missionaries so we didn´t have the chance to go do a session. I was bummed when they first told me this, but we got to go through the visitors center which was great! The church has put a lot of money into this visitors center to help people understand the church! I wish you all could have seen it, it was awesome! I took a lot of pics so I´ll try and send them home!
Also, you´ll never guess who I ran into today! Elder BRADEN DILLON!! Oh my I turned around and there he was. We were way good friends in High school and he´s been out here in Mexico for almost a year! What´re the odds?? I gave him a big old bear hug and we talked about home. It´s always great to see a familiar face when you´re so far away from home!
