It´s good to be able to get on here and email again!! This week was another good week with a lot of ups and downs! On Sunday our branch president gave us a ´´motivational´´ talk on how we need to be more unified as a district. I say ´´motivational´´ because it was the closest thing to being yelled at by a branch president I have ever seen. There have been some problems with our district leader not feeling like we are supporting him. I could write for a long time about this, but to keep it simple, there have been some personality clashes and feelings hurt throughout the district. It´s a lot better now, but it´s been a rough week!
I want to start out with a couple of good stories. So there´s an Elder in my district who can honestly fight about anything. Like if I told him the sky was blue he would probably tell me I´m wrong. That´s just the way this kid is! So one day we were sitting in the classroom and somehow the conversation turned to whether lightning came from the ground or the sky. (Don´t ask me.) Anyways my comp and this Elder start arguing about it NONSTOP.
I´m trying to study so it was getting on my nerves. I felt the spirit surge though me and before I even knew what I was saying, I said ´´Look guys you can fight all you want, but while you do the spirit is never going to be here and we´re never going to learn this language.´´ After that it was dead silent. I´m not saying this to try and sound all high and mighty, but I honestly know that those were not my words. It was a super cool experience and since then there has been a lot less fighting. :)
Every Sunday we get to watch a movie and last Sunday was MEET THE MORMONS. I´ve never been so excited for a movie in my life and that´s saying something. When they announced that we were going to watch it, you would have thought that they had just told us that we were going to watch the new Star Wars 3 months early. People were so excited! Sundays are the best here!! This Sunday is the Mexico City temple dedication! I´m super excited! We don´t get to go, but we get to watch the broadcast! Pres. Eyring and Elder Holland are coming to rededicate it. I hope they swing by the Ol CCM!!! I´m an Usher at the auditorium where we have all the devotionals so I would get to talk to them which would be AWESOME! Ya'll should pray that they come. ;)
To kinda wrap this up, I want to share one more thing that happened yesterday that was AMAZING. So here in the CCM we do a thing called TRC. It´s basically a thing where they bring in members from Mexico City and we talk to them and share a quick message! They tell us we can teach anywhere from recent converts to Bishops. So yesterday was our first time doing it and I was nervous!! We ended up meeting a lady named Virginia Alcántara. She was probably in her late 50´s and was super nice! I asked her what she liked to do and understood absolutely nothing. By her hand motions I think she said she liked to knit so I just smiled and said Si! Then i told her my momma likes to do that too so mom pretend you like to knit for me. ;)
Anyways after we had shared a short message about faith I asked her (in spanish ;)) if there was anything that we could do to help her. To my surprise she said yes and that she really needed a priesthood blessing. I was so surprised that i said ¿Ahora? Hah she was like yeah of course! So after we got oil and everything ready we gave her a blessing of peace, health, and comfort. I said it in English because I felt like that´s what the Lord knew I would be more comfortable in. After we were done I could tell she was touched even though she did not know what I was saying. She told the Elders that went in to teach her after that she felt so much more at peace! I was so happy to be able to do that for her, and honored that she would trust two Elders she didn´t even know to give her a blessing!
It was a week that started rough and then turned great!! Hope all is well back home! I love and miss you guys.
