Week 79 The Three Amigos

Buenooooos días,

Tuesday
We had an amazing day! President came for interviews and he's just become such a father figure for me. When we talk it feels like talking to a friend and I love that. I love the Johnsons so much! Later that day we had quite possibly my favorite lesson of my mission. We met with Will at Bro. Cardiffs office downtown and had such an amazing lesson! Bro. Cardiff was an amazing teacher and was so passionate about the gospel. It was exactly what Will needed and we ended up putting Will on date for the 25th!! I'm so excited!! Will is pumped as well and put the date on his calendar as soon as we set it. He's awesome and we've definitely seen the gospel change his life! It was a pretty long lesson but we basically did a two for one with all that was taught. Soooo good! 👍🏽

Wednesday
Met up with Daniel who was a investigator we found last week. We read Joseph Smith's story with him and he seemed to like it! He's pretty pure in heart and I think we can help him get to church. We had a lesson planned with Belle but instead we got her mom who is crazy! Elder Ibarra told me the ward gave up on her which I thought was kind of sad, but she's a handful haha. It was a really interesting chat and we got more than we asked for. You get some of these Pennsylvanians that can just talk for days about nothing. 😂 Found a few more Spanish people that night and closed out the day! A lot of the hispanos think we're migration officers which doesn't help us... It's a crazy world.
Thursday
We went and taught Iris who is the one that came to church last week for the first time in ages! The poor woman is super lonely and as soon as we got there she just talked our ears off... At least she's doing a lot better and is a lot happier! We met up with Will later in the day and he dropped the bomb on us and said he's going to be moving to New Jersey in the next month! 😬 Whaaaat? That threw us for a loop. We just set him with a date and now he's moving? He's still up in the air with a lot of things, but wants to continue learning and coming to church! I hope all goes well! Wrapped up the night with a Noche familiar at the church with the Spanish group. Everyone brought a little something and we watched Meet the Mormons. It went pretty well and it was good for the group to get to know each other a little better! We tried so hard to get investigators there but nada. It's disappointing a lot of the time, but you just have to keep hoping people can come. I wish we could just drive a 15 passenger van and go pick all these people up!!

Friday
We had a really good lesson with Raymond who is a recent convert of about 8 months. He's a solid Peruvian and loves the gospel. He's been really busy and hasn't been able to come to church as much so it was good to have a talk with him! It was also 80 degrees that day which was insane!! It felt like summertime and I loved it. Had some English class later on and we had someone new come named Jorge! Jorge has had the discussions several times in Guatemala and now wants to take them again. The guy is awesome and doesn't work Sundays which is a good start at least. It was cool becuase he came a little early and we were able to reteach the restoration right there! Tender mercy of the day! It's good to know our fliers are working... 😏
Saturday
Twas an interesting day. We balled in the morning and after playing hard I did not feel good at all. Super dizzy, pale, blurry vision - you know how it goes. Well, right as we get to our ward mission leaders house for coordination meeting I threw up in the grass by his house. Uh oh. 😬 We had the meeting and then round two made an appearance right before we got in the car. No bueno. We were supposed to be going on exchanges but ended up having Elders Ibarra and Chafin come blitz our area while I rested up a bit. After some ginger ale, crackers, and a nap I felt a lot better and we got back to work. Good health truly is a blessing I take for granted. You can't do anything when you feel like trash. We ended up having a good lesson with Wilbur and Jessica where we felt like we applied the Book of Mormon more to their situation. I feel like we really got through and it was great!
Sunday
Church was great and the group put together a little despedida for Elder Ibarra. I just love the group!! We had a lesson with Erica later in the day that went alright! Poor lady is super shy and I think she's exerting all her faith just to let us in her house. She committed to read from the Book of Mormon so I'm just praying she finds answers in the Book! We had dinner with the Cardiffs that night who are some amazing members! Super funny and just good people! She speaks portugués so shout out to my parents for teaching me that language. 😉 Maybe someday.

Random stuff
  • Will is half Poly so my dreams of teaching Polynesians are coming true.
  • My bishop from home knocked on our door this week and surprised us like crazy!! I was shaking I think. Shout out to G4 and my fam and friends for the package!
  • English Class is the best thing ever. I love these Hispanos!
  • Transfer news came and I'm going to be in a trio!!! I'm pretty pumped because I've never been in one before and I think it will be sweet! 😜 I'm getting Elders Condie and Nelson who have both been out about 7 months! It's gonna be a good time!

Well everybody life is good and another transfer has come and gone. I think this coming transfer we need to make a better effort on getting people to church! It's always been the hardest thing in this mission and it just has to happen! Thanks for your support and prayers, we need it for sure. Love you all!

God bless yinz,
