Hey everybody,
How we all doing? Hope you had a good week and that you have a stellar Halloween! We had a busy week! Here's what happened!
Tuesday
Highlight of the day was with Justin! He continues to meet with us and ask deep questions. Today we got into why we need the Book of Mormon and if it's really of God or not... From what he's read online he think it could potentially be of the devil which is such garbage. We had our stake president with us and we just testified that it is of God! We were really candid with him and it was just an awesome mutually respectful lesson. He's to 1 Nephi 6 so I just hope he keeps reading.
Wednesday
Bro. Trout (Less active guy) took us to lunch at a restaurant called Pasta Too. Oh my word, I've never seen portions that big in my life. I think the idea is that you spend a lot of money to take a box home so you can enjoy it later. It took me 3 meals to finish off my fettuccine alfredo to give you an idea. It was super nice of him to take us and we had a good time! After that, we met with President and Sister Johnson to go over transfers. It's always an exciting time for us to see what's going to happen and this was no exception. We got to work on planning for the transfer and it should be a good one!
Thursday & Friday
We spent a lot of time in the office on Thursday and we were feeling pretty good about all the work we had done. We knew we had a few more things to finish up, but nothing major. Well, we were wrong. President had to make a lot of changes to the boards and that really affected the logistics we had already done... So we worked it out! It took more time than we thought, but it all worked out!
Saturday
We had a lesson at night with the Bortz family who we are trying to get back to church. They need it so bad right now! She's a single mom with two 13 year old boys and I just want them to enjoy the blessings of the gospel so bad! We've kind of run into a wall with them on what we want to teach. They haven't kept any commitments so it's kind of hard to move on to bigger things... Elder Parke and I made the decision to just go in there and let the Holy Spirit guide. It felt right, so we did it. It turned out great! We really got down to their needs and I loved it. I think sometimes we worry about what we're going to say when we just need to testify and love. I need to do better at that!
Sunday
Church was so good and definitely needed. This week was tough! I felt like we were beaten down by the world and needed the recharge that only the Sacrament can give. There was just a lot going on in the mission with close buddies that are going through hard times. It's hard to see them struggle and you feel for your brothers out here! I guess I was just feeling weighed down with stress and worries for them and Church was the peace I needed. I've gained such a testimony of the importance of the Sacrament. It's so needed and I look forward to it as a renewal and an opportunity to complete the atonement in our lives. It's great.
Ups and downs as always but life is good and God is great. I love you all and let me know if I can do anything for you!!
Keep stepping,
Elder Halls
