What is good everyone?? I heard Golden State went down which is a tragedy and that Dustin Johnson won the Open. I guess that guy deserved it. I hope all you Fathers out there had a good day as well! Y'all deserved it.
As always, here is what we did:
Tuesday
Bishop Hill came out with us and shared one of the most powerful testimonies I have ever witnessed. It was incredible! We were with Jackie and I swear he was paralyzed by his words. It was soooo sweet! Ahhh. He has felt the spirit countless times and he now needs to make a choice. We will see. I love when members come out with us and share what they know. A lot of them are converts and they bring such a powerful testimony of how the gospel has literally changed their life! It's sweet!
Wednesday
This was a crazy day. We ran out of time to eat dinner so I call that true dedication. There's no way I could write everything that happened but trust that it was sweet. Highlights were these two kids who referred themselves through Mormon.org! They had heard about the church through a friend at school and wanted to learn more! Perfect. The Peña family is doing awesome. We read with them in the Book of Mormon and things are starting to click more and more! The Lord helps me so much in lessons with them. I get to speak Spanish maybe once a week and the words just come. It's amazing! They just need to come to church. If you remember from earlier emails, we've been meeting with a hard core Bible lady named Shannon. We decided to bring the big spiritual guns AKA Pres. Hoffman. This was a good choice because it helped me keep my mouth shut. Shannon likes to throw down on the Book of Mormon which is no bueno para mí. I literally bit my tongue in the lesson and that seemed to help. She is quite concerned for Elder Montgomery's salvation and I don't think she likes me at all... Good to know I still got that charm.
Thursday
We went and saw Jeremiah which was sweet. He looks like he belongs in a death metal band but is one of the nicest people here. Judge not friends. Rob is doing a lot better and I continue to have my eyes opened to real life. It's not all rainbows and butterflies like I once thought. He also offered to fix up my ukulele so we will see if that happens...
Friday
Andy is still as crazy as ever haha. He calls us Jedi masters which is always good for a laugh! He needs some help with his life in general so who knows what will happen. He also gave us some deer antlers so that was generous. We saw Sister Yocum (crazy cat lady) but this time the Samuelson's were clutch and gave me some lemon oil for under my nose. Much better. That night we went to the Kalamafoni's for dinner and the Peña family came! They are definitely searching for something more in their lives and they're so close to seeing that this is it!! Ahh I just wanted to yell it to them but I thought that'd be weird... They committed to come to church so we will see! It's really frustrating teaching by yourself in Spanish. Always awkward when your companion asks: "So how'd it go?" Right after you finish teaching. It's a test of patience so I'm open for suggestions.
Saturday
Did some community service at a park in South Willy and our investigators came! We had 4 of them there and I think they had a good ol time! It was sweet! The Samuelson's fed us that night to thank us for our service this transfer! Elder Montgomery is getting shipped out of here! I'm staying and my new comp will be Elder Spencer so shout out to my little brother!! I'm pumped and I think we will do great things this coming transfer!
Sunday
Church was awesome! We had six investigators there so we were super pumped about that! That blows all records out of the water for me so it was great! People are starting to progress!! After church we went to see Kaley who is the 13 year old girl that wants to get baptized! We were able to set her with a date in July so all around a solid day. Best way to end the transfer!!
Random thoughts
- We have spent a decent amount of time teaching a less active guy in a trailer park and my knowledge of NASCAR has increased ten fold. Every time we go there is something new to be found.
- People in Pennsylvania do not say "to be." We often hear something like this: "You see that lawn there? That needs mowed."
- At the Kalamafoni dinner there were three languages spoken at the same time. English, Tongan, and Spanish. Diversity y'all.
Super excited for this upcoming transfer! Great things are happening in our area and I love it! Things are great and it is hot all the time. I love being a missionary and I am so thankful for all the love and support from home! Love you guys!
Just keep steppin,
Elder Halls
Pictures: These two referred themselves for a Book of Mormon! After the lesson we made their Snap Chat story; Hedgehooooog!; Bye bye Elders Davidson and Montgomery; Dinner with the Leggieri's
