Week 5 Vamos al Campo Misional!

Hola Amigos!
I can´t believe that my time in the CCM is winding down! I only have 3 more real days and then I am out of here! Time has flown by and my spanish is nowhere near perfect, but I know that´s something that will just come with time and patience. I can´t wait to get to Pittsburgh!!

This week was full of good experiences and laughs! I´m really going to miss my district, they kind of become your family while you´re down here with this totally new adventure!

This week we taught Hermano Palma (My super short teacher) a bunch of words that he hears us say all the time but he doesn´t know what they mean! He said his favorite word in english is piglet. Haha everytime we say piglet he busts up laughing like a little kid, it´s the funniest thing to watch. Along with this we taught him what homeslice, baller, guys, stuff, and swag meant. Sometimes when we walk into class he´ll say what's up ballers? I can´t help but laugh!

This week I was learning some really hard spanish, to me at least! Right now we are studying Subjunctive. I have no clue if we even have it in english or if we just use it in past tense, but it´s been kind of hard for me! Spanish can be hard because there are two different types of past tense. Imperfect and Preterite and then variations including subjunctive. This week I was studying it and had kind of hit a dead end. I was just praying that it would kind of work itself out! That night we had a devotional from the 70, and I was honestly able to understand everything he said! I knew that was a blessing from the Lord for putting in the time earlier!

This week we ate with the Latinos again and yesterday we had a funny experience with an Elder. Most of them ask us if we like to play Football and we always say yes, and ask them the same. Most of them like Football, but they say they don´t really understand it! BUUUUT, yesterday I sat by the Mexican ,18 year old, John Madden. In his own words he said: ´´If I have the body to play Futbol Americano I would.´´ Hahaha it was awesome! We asked him what his favorite team was and he said THE STEELERS! That´s what I´m talkin about. ;) He also gave me a total recap of the fourth quarter of some Green Bay vs. Pittsburgh game that he was really passionate about.

Well I know I´m ready to get out there and do this for real. I know it will start to be a lot more difficult but I am ready for the new challenge! A lot of the Mexicans have asked us why we´re here in Mexico learning spanish when our mission is Pittsburgh. This has made me think a little bit of why I am here. I just know that there is a purpose in all things and that I´m supposed to be where I am. One of my favorite songs is when it says ´´I´ll go where you want me to go, Dear Lord.´´ I hope we can all remember that in our lives!

¡Hasta Luego!
Con Amor,
Elder Halls
