Week 99 Let's Start a Spanish Group

Hey,

We're almost done with the lessons with Cindy and now Momma Rodriguez is thinking she wants to get baptized as well. I feel like our plan is working. 😜 Cindy threw down on her and basically just bore testimony during the lesson and it was so awesome. I was amazed. Good things are happening and I'll just have to keep you posted.

Wednesday... Hmm district meeting happened and then we hit the streets. We had just finished trying a few people when this one guy stopped us from his porch. Again, my experience has been when people stop us it's usually not good. This guy proved me right. He was looking to argue and we were not having it. My blood was boiling and luckily Elder Gray is very Christ like and got us out of there. He tapped me while the guy was talking and said: "Let's go." We shared some scriptures, testified, and got out. This guy was crazy and it's sad to see people so hardened against the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith. If only they understood the truth. Other than that the day was sweet. We met with the bishop and finally got a date for the first day of the Spanish group in HBG!! We should have our first group meeting on August 13th  and I'm pumped!! Bishop plans on having 2nd and 3rd hours in Spanish to gauge interest and then we'll go from there. This was one of the big things we wanted to accomplish this transfer and it feels good to be heading in the right direction. I have faith that one day there will be a Spanish branch in Harrisburg.

Thursday was good! We saw Denise and Denisha in the morning and guess who was there when we knocked the door? Cindy. She's been hanging out with the twins (RC) a tooon which is probably the best thing we could ask for. These girls just love the church and it's great. Bert cut back his smoking which made us happy. It's a work in progress, but we're headed in the right direction. On the way home that night we were riding by Carol's place, (investigator) who we had already seen that week. I rode right past it and felt prompted to turn around, so we did. I think it was inspired because we had a good visit and she seemed excited about the Chapel tour that we ended up having on Friday. I feel like she wouldn't have come if we didn't stop by and personally invite her again. Success. The Chapel tour ended up going well but we found out Carol isn't really interested... Dang. The member we had with us didn't really help either. He was just relentless in inviting her to do things even after she said no. What can you do right?

We have officially ended the lessons with Cindy. Boo-Yeah. We wrapped it up with a discussion on temples and it went well. Cindy is so excited to go to the temple and we are too! I might be able to go to Philly one more time. 😜 After that the streets were hit and we found a cool guy named Nelson. We were looking for Julio and he was just chilling on the porch. We felt like he needed the Restored Gospel so we talked to him about the Book of Mormon and while we saddled up on the bikes he started to read. I hope good things happen with this guy.

Well Sunday was sweet. We walked into the Chapel and saw one of our investigators that we haven't been able to see in 3 weeks or so just sitting on the back pew. Him and his wife just showed up to church without an invite from us or any follow up... Maybe it's better to just not try and teach them. 😂 Cindy was of course there and her family came as well. If you're good at math you'll know that's 5 investigators at church. That may be a new record for me at least. The Lord is blessing us here in HBG and I'm grateful. After that we saw Rahminx with Bro. Troike which was good. We just read with him in the Book of Mormon and it seemed to go well. Rahminx has a pure heart and wants to change his life. I enjoy teaching him and hope we can get him to church soon. We'll see how it goes.

Random Things
  • These two Hispanos were talking smack about us in Spanish right in front of us so we went and talked to them. They seemed pretty surprised we could speak Español. 😂
  • Bro. Troike has no fear of just walking into our apartment even when we're not there. We found him just sitting on our chair waiting for us before an appointment. Hah I love these Pennsylvanians.

I feel like such great things are happening here right now. The Lord's work is definitely moving forward and we've felt Satan trying to slow it down. There truly is opposition in all things and I've seen that this week for sure. We all know who will win in the end but for now we just have to put our trust in the Lord and have faith that he will lead and guide us. I'm looking forward to a good upcoming week, we should be busy and have some fun!

Workin' on,

Elder Halls
