Fam and friends,
This week was definitely highlighted by our mission wide conference! We had Elder Stevenson from the Quorum of the Twelve, Elder Hallstrom from the Presidency of the Seventy, and our area authority Elder Kunz. It was amazing! Every missionary in the mission was there and it's so powerful to get together like that to sing and recite D&C 4 and our purpose. It's one of those things that I won't forget! They taught such simple things, but it was just what we needed. Elder Stevenson really focused on commitments which I thought was great. He talked a lot how we shouldn't ask ourselves what're we going to teach, but what commitment can we extend to help the person progress. Once we extend that commitment he said we must promise the blessings that come! As missionaries we are authorized to promise people blessings and it's something I often overlook. Again, they taught such simple things that I had heard and read before but there is something about hearing it from an Apostle that makes it special. I could write a lot about this, but just know that we were edified and we're going to make some changes.
We had a pretty good week on the teaching front as well! Lillie accepted a baptismal date for the 11th, Merle keeps chugging along, and the Bortz are working on coming to church every week! Sister Bortz has been two weeks in a row so we're hopeful she'll keep on coming. It's great to see people progress and make changes in their lives!
In other news, we did all of the logistics for the mission wide conference and I think it all worked out pretty well! We're becoming veterans. We had exchanges with our district leader and I went with one of my good buddies Elder Averett. We had a good time and I'm going to miss that kid. He goes home in a few weeks so watch out everybody. We taught a couple of good lessons together and the spirit was flowing in them! President Johnson came out for the one with the Haners and he definitely brought the spiritual hammer. He's a good guy to have on your team.
The mission has been getting a lot of new cars to switch out the old ones and we get to go pick them up sometimes. This week was one of those times and we got to go drive the new Subaru Legacy. The church hooks us up and it shows with the cars. They have some pretty sweet technology in them and it kind of amazes me that we get to drive brand new cars. I better not get used to that.
Other than that there's not too much to report. We taught the gospel, did office work, and were instructed by servants of the Lord. It was another great one in the PPM.
Random thoughts
- We had a burger night in the casa that turned out really well. Elder Parke makes a mean burger and I dabble with French fries.
- Little kids are so crazy. Haha you kind of forget when you're not around them a ton, but this week we had two dinners with young families. Nothing quite like a kid running and jumping on you. I was sitting down in one of the dinners when all of a sudden I felt little fingers playing with my hair. Woah. Turned around to find a little kid, that was weird.
Keep it real,
Elder Halls
