Week 15 Jehovah Witness presents lesson

Hey Y'all,
This week definitely was a rollercoaster filled with all sorts of funny and interesting stories!! I hope you enjoy!

Tuesday
Had a lesson with Schizophrenic Scott, and I'm pretty sure it's time for him to be dropped off our list... Usually he likes to talk and ask a lot of questions, but these last few times have been weird and he said I don't know to just about everything we asked! It was THE worst lesson I have had as a missionary, and not because of anything we did wrong! We did everything as we should have and when they're not responsive there's nothing you can do!! Super frustrating, but we gotta keep moving!! We also stopped by the Bonnas house to see if we could find the baptismal certificate of Miss Misterio herself, AKA Tiffany. Man the Bonnas house is an interesting place. They have literally like 30 cats just free roaming everywhere. Some of you know how I get with cats....  (S/O to Sen, Preston, and Molly) I'm pretty allergic, so I take my life in my own hands every time I go over there... Luckily we've learned to stay outside even when it's freezing and I survive.  But yeah that was our Tuesday.
Wednesday
Suuuuper solid day! We had a lesson with our investigator Faye who has a baptismal date! She's so excited it cracks me up!! We taught her the plan of salvation with a little puzzle diagram and she was super into it! She put it together a bunch of times and took a picture of it on her mom's phone to study it later! I love teaching kids!!  This family is going through a rough time and I feel super bad. The Dad just got a new job and hasn't been put on payroll yet and doesn't know when he will be. When we got there they were talking about how they don't know if they'll have enough money to pay the mortgage and everything this month right before Christmas. Money is super tight for them right now and they have 4 little girls!! My heart just dropped as I was sitting there listening to them talk about how Christmas might not be coming this year. Saddest thing I've ever been apart of. My heart broke when Faye said: "It's okay dad I understand that we probably won't get a lot of stuff this year."  On top of all this they fed us a big meal tonight!! It was something I can hardly put into words. I've been so blessed all my life and haven't been truly thankful. My eyes have really been opened to what it's like for a lot of people! We immediately called our bishop to see if there's anything the ward can do for them for Christmas so I hope we can string something together! Also we saw a MEMBER tonight that asked us if we celebrate Christmas....  ohhhhh boy. I couldn't help but smile and say yes, we doooo!!! Sometimes I can't help but wonder what they were taught when they were investigating or when they were young!
Thursday
Had a solid district meeting and took some awesome Christmas card pictures.  I'll have to send those on home. We then ate lunch with some members at this old folks home in Jamestown. They are OLD. Haha one was 89!! Super funny just sitting with all these old people as 4 young missionaries! People were looking at us like why the heck are they here? We had a good time and shared the new Christmas video with them! After, we went and tried for the billionth time to contact one of our referrals that lives in cherry creek! She finally answered!!!! Haha we were so happy! Super nice girl that just graduated from college and seems interested! She has met with missionaries before so we need to go back and teach her more! The only problem is she lives 45 minutes away so that's a fun little drive every time.  Now you see why we're so happy to meet her! Miles are precious to a missionary. Speaking of driving we saw the most adorable little Amish kids today. We were driving down this dirt road and just stumbled upon a pack of kids! I said: "Woah elder I think it's the Amish!!" Sure enough it was!! Cute little kids with their straw hats and everything. We slowed down and waved to them and they all gave us the biggest grins and waved back! I love the Amish, and we see them a lot on the roads with horse and buggy! Super sick.

Saturday
Suuuuper interesting night. Haha we were in Jamestown teaching the Matos and they told us that a Jehovah's Witness was coming too... We were like uhhh alright I mean we can all talk together I guess? So she comes and as soon as she entered the room you could feel the spirit of contention. Holy cow!!! Hah my blood was boiling and my leg was bouncing up and down!! I had so much adrenaline and everything! I felt so ready to just fight! Ahhh I knew it was the spirit of contention. The adversary was practically whispering in my ear to fight, fight, fight! Buuuuut I Didn't!! Haha so this lady just comes out of nowhere and just starts teaching these random things. Bless her heart she was trying to speak in Spanish, but was just struggling. I tried my best to listen and be polite, but she was just throwing scriptures around with no purpose. She bore no testimony, said no prayer, or anything. I ended up just feeling very uncomfortable. Finally Josh says you need to give the missionaries a chance to talk, after all they were here first! So she says: "Oh sorry, I sometimes get carried away, I need to go!" So as she leaves I asked her: "Oh how long have you been studying Spanish?" She says: "2 and a half years!" I said: "Oh how nice! That's great!" She says to me: "How long have you?" I said: "3 months." Haha she goes: "Oh my! That's incredible! I mean you are young!" I said: "Yeah we believe in the gift of tongues and In the power of the Holy Ghost." Hahah after that she kinda just looked at me, bore this awkward testimony of some tabernacle and left.  It was such a testimony builder to me of what I'm doing here. After she left we had a little discussion with the Matos about the Holy Ghost and the different feelings they have when she's there, and when we're there. I'm grateful for the truths that have been restored, and I think they finally understand it! So in a way I'm thankful for our unexpected JW friend.  Super weird night, but I learned so much!!
Sunday
Fast Sunday in Jamestown which was good! Charley showed up which was awesome!! I sure love my old African brother.  hah we also saw the first presidency devotional which was super good!! I really enjoyed it! They showed temple square all lit up and the family we were with goes: "Does that make you homesick Elder?" Hahah I'm like hey pipe down over there. It does look super pretty as always!! The lights are amazing!! Anyways I hope you guys got to watch it! Goooood stuff!!

This Christmas season has been amazing for me. I've really focused my studies and time on learning more about the life of the Savior. It's been amazing as I've read and watched videos on his life how much my love has grown. He IS our Savior and advocate with the Father. Because he lived here, he can better know our problems, struggles, and shortcomings. He is our perfect brother and example. I'm so grateful to be out here representing him. I'm blessed every day for that!! I hope this Christmas season you can all remember what our savior has done for us! He is the reason for the season, and He is the gift.
